Most driveways that fail in the Southern Downs don’t fail because of cheap gravel — they fail because the base wasn’t prepared for the soil conditions underneath it. Black soil moves. Clay retains water. Reactive sub-grades push gravel off a track that isn’t properly crowned or cambered.
We build driveways and access tracks that account for these conditions from the sub-grade up. The right depth, the right camber, the right material for what’s underneath it — and drainage that actually works when the wet season arrives.

Sub-Grade Assessment & Preparation
The ground under the gravel matters more than the gravel itself. We assess the sub-grade condition and prepare accordingly — including stripping reactive topsoil where required.

Formation Grading with Correct Camber
The crown or cross-fall is built into the formation — not added as an afterthought. Water sheds off the surface by design, not by luck.

Road Base or Gravel Placement
Material selected and depth matched to the sub-grade conditions and expected traffic. Supplied by the Kenworth tipper and placed with the Bobcat.

Compaction
Base compacted in lifts where required — particularly important on reactive soils and long-run rural tracks that carry heavy vehicles.

Culvert Preparation & Drainage Integration
Where water crosses the track, culverts are sized correctly and set at the right invert. Drainage points are built into the track design — not discovered after the first rain.

Final Trim & Clean-Up
Edges trimmed, excess material cleared, access track functional on day one. We don't leave a partially finished job to "settle in."
